Kids' Day: Discovery Bay with Delaware Center for the Inland Bays
Looking for something to do while the kids are off school?
Get ready to embark on a thrilling journey of exploration and adventure during this kids’ day! Get closer to the bays than ever before as we search the shallow waters of the Indian River Bay for aquatic life. Identify and discuss different fish, crabs, and other organisms that we can find here at the James Farm Ecological Preserve!
Participants will be in and around the water, so please wear clothes and shoes that can get wet and sandy. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged. Don’t forget to bring water, sunscreen, and insect repellent, as the Preserve can be buggy at times.
We’ll walk approximately 0.5 miles to and from the beach, with the majority of the program spent wading in the water at the beach.
Important Notes:
- Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
- This program is weather permitting.
- Attendance is free, but registration is encouraged. We reserve the right to turn away walk-ups if necessary.
- For the privacy and comfort of our participants, staff, and volunteers, video or audio recording is not permitted during our programs. Guests are welcome to take photographs, but we ask that you do so in a way that respects the privacy of others. Thank you for helping us keep our programs safe and welcoming for everyone.
