Fire & Ice "Rock 'n' Roll " Drink Competition

Join the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce & local restaurants on Sunday, January 16th, from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the Harvest Tide Steakhouse and Event Venue for the Fire & Ice "Rock 'n' Roll " Drink Competition. Local bartenders will compete head-to-head to have their drink crowned the "Rock 'n' Roll" Fire & Ice 2022 winner!
All drinks will be created in collaboration with Sagamore Spirit and Steel Blu Vodka. Patrons will be able to vote for their favorite drink alongside a celebrity panel! Tickets will be available until Wednesday, January 12th.
*Must be 21 or over to participate. All participants must bring their ID's
*All sales are final. Refunds will not be provided

Drink Competition patrons will receive:
- One complimentary tasting drink from each participating restaurant
- "People's Choice" vote
- Opportunity to ask each bartender questions

Competing Bartenders
Participating bartenders will compete for an opportunity to be crowned the Fire & Ice "Rock 'n' Roll" Drink Competition winner. The winning bartender will be awarded a cash prize and trophy.
Participating Restaurants and Bartenders:
- Chaz Galliher- 99 Sea Level
- Bartending for over 10 years, you can find Chaz behind the bar at 99 Sea Level in downtown Bethany Beach. Known as "The Happiness Doctor," Chaz loves how one cocktail and a conversation could make a guest's whole day!
- Ryan "Puff" Helminiak
- Bartending over 6 years "Puff" can be found serving up the finest bourbons behind the bar at Bethany Blues. When he is not working, you can fund him going on the drive- on, fishing, and golfing. One of his favorite things about the job is meeting new people!
- Melissa Hekl - Good Earth Market
- You can find Melissa behind the bar at Good Earth Market. Bartending for five years now, one of her favorite things about the job is talking to people and learning new drink parings. If you stop by and visit Melissa, be sure to ask her, her favorite question, "Can I have another?"
- John Cohill - Harvest Tide Steakhouse
- Meet John Cohill, one of Harvest Tide's talented bartenders! John has been bartending for close to a year and a half and loves being able to meet and interact with a variety of people throughout his day. If you stop by and see him at Harvest Tide ask him to make you his favorite drink, an Espresso Martini.
- Coale Davidson - Just Hooked
- Born and raised in Bishopville, Maryland, is as fresh, honest, & local as it gets. By day Coale is a grain farmer of corn and soybeans, by night he is Just Hooked's bar manager and lead mixologist. He started his restaurant career serving at Just Hooked in March 2017 and has quickly become an integral member of the team with his spin on infusions and craft cocktails. Outside of his bar and farming career, Coale enjoys playing golf, sports betting, and hanging with friends. Come visit Coale behind the bar at Just Hooked!
- Jordan Fisher - Signatures at Bayside
- Bartending for over 5 years, you can find Jordan serving up your favorite mixed cocktails behind the bar at Signatures. His favorite to mix up for his customers is a Margarita! - Salt or no salt? In his free time you can find Jordan, golfing, taking long walks on the beach or drinking a Natural Light. - "The Champagne of Delmarva"
- Melanie Petrie- The Cottage Cafe/The Bethany Boathouse
- A DE local, Melanie has been bartending for 16 years. You can find her behind the bar at The Cottage Cafe. One of her favorite things about bartending through the years is meeting new people and hearing their stories.
- Bridget Kelly- The Den at Bear Trap Dunes
- Bridget Kelly has been bartending for over 33 years. You can currently find her serving up her favorite drinks such as Manhattans & Martinis at The Den at Bear Trap Dunes. Bridget loves that her job is different every single day, and she wouldn't want to have it any other way.
- Elizabeth Armstrong - The Salted Rim
- Meet Elizabeth! Elizabeth has been behind the bar for 2.5 years and enjoys every second of it. What she enjoys most is the people. "I've had the opportunity to meet and get to know so many people in the community. Some have even become like family."
- Ben Wenke - Zoca
- You can find Ben behind the bar at Zoca in Bethany Beach, serving you up some of the most flavorful and fresh margarita's around. Ben has been a bartender for over 6 years and has enjoyed the friends that he has met through the job. When he is off the clock you can find him playing a few rounds of golf on a local course.
Ticket sales will benefit Nemours duPont Pediatrics & SeniorCare, Sussex Campus and local area restaurants. The Drink Competition and Tasting Tour has raised $13,553 total for Nemours since 2020.

Celebrity Judging Panel
A panel of celebrity judges will participate in the Fire & Ice "Rock 'n' Roll" Drink Competition. Drinks will be judged based on taste, presentation, and Rock 'n' Roll theme.
Participating Judges:
- Nick Goodwin - Banks Wines & Spirits
- Nick Goodnow, Manager at Banks Wines & Spirits has been with the company for 6 years specializing in Beer, Whiskey & Tequila . His cocktails of choice are a Mezcal Margarita, Manhattan or simple Tequila on the rocks.
- Kathy McDonald - La Vida Hospitality
- Kathy McDonald is the Catering Director for Fork & Flask (formerly known as Nage Catering) and the Big Chill Beach Club. She loves making lifelong memories for all the couples who work with her planning their special event. Prior to starting with La Vida, with a 2 year break in Key West, Kathy worked as Director of Operations for a large restaurant group in Washington, D.C. and Delaware. Kathy enjoys working with different non-profit groups, firmly believes in conscious capitalism and that giving and community involvement are crucial to a successful business plan. When not working, she loves to travel, eats at local restaurants, and studies drawing.
- Derrick Smith - Nemours Pediatrics
- Derrick has served the nonprofit sector in both paid and volunteer capacities, for the past 15 years. His passion for philanthropy and Nemours is rooted in his belief that “Whatever hurts my brother hurts me,” the motto of his high school alma mater, St. Benedict’s Preparatory School. Derrick is a proud alumnus of Dartmouth College and has held several alumni leadership roles. Beyond his passion for philanthropy, Derrick is an amateur cook and a distance road cyclist participating in charity rides across the country.
- Derrick has served the nonprofit sector in both paid and volunteer capacities, for the past 15 years. His passion for philanthropy and Nemours is rooted in his belief that “Whatever hurts my brother hurts me,” the motto of his high school alma mater, St. Benedict’s Preparatory School.
