Celebrating 55 Years of The Allman Brothers “At Fillmore East” at Freeman Arts Pavilion

Celebrating 55 Years of The Allman Brothers “At Fillmore East” at Freeman Arts Pavilion

The Allman Brothers Band At Fillmore East wasn’t just a live album — it was the moment the Allman Brothers Band became eternal. Captured over two nights in March of 1971, it crystallized everything the band stood for: collective risk, deep listening, spiritual improvisation, and the idea that music is strongest when it’s shared in real time. It turned jam music into a living language and set the template for generations of musicians who learned not just what to play, but how to play together. 55 years later, we celebrate At Fillmore East not as a museum piece, but as a living blueprint.

This night is about legacy — how the music of the Allman Brothers Band continues to be passed down hand-to-hand, family-to-family, and generation-to-generation.

Local favorites return home with their touring band, Melody Trucks &The Fitzkee Brothers, joined by an all-star circle of musicians directly connected to the Allman Brothers lineage. From the original family to second generations, this collaboration honors the timeless spirit of At Fillmore East while carrying its lessons forward into new music.

A special full-circle moment: Alex and Drew Fitzkee played this very stage as local openers in 2019 at just 12 and 14 years of age, respectively, during a very memorable “Locals Under the Lights” performance. Now they return as seasoned professionals, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with legacy artists who helped define the sound that inspired their musical journey.

Melody Trucks & The Fitzkee Brothers and Friends celebrate 55 years of At Fillmore East with deep reverence, open-ended jams, and the same sense of risk, trust, and brotherhood that made the original recordings immortal. Featuring Peter Levin (Gregg Allman Band), Lamar Williams Jr., and Vaylor Trucks, this is not a tribute, it’s a continuation.

Melody Trucks & The Fitzkee Brothers — Vocals, Percussion, Bass & Drums

Melody Trucks & The Fitzkee Brothers are a powerhouse collective born from the collaborative spirit of Roots Rock Revival, where their shared love of groove, improvisation, and soulful storytelling first brought them together. Since then, they’ve played alongside luminaries such as The Allman Betts Family Revival, Oteil Burbridge, Robert Randolph, George Porter Jr., members of Parliament Funkadelic, Dumpstaphunk, Kingfish, Devon Allman, Duane Betts, Luther Dickinson, Melvin Seals, Ron Holloway, Live Dead & Brothers, Claude Coleman Jr., Nth Power, Bruce Katz, Cris Jacobs and many more. Blending rock, funk, and soul elements with improvisational depth, their music honors the traditions that shaped them as players while boldly pushing it forward, creating live experiences that are as electrifying as they are heartfelt. In June 2026, they will take their sound into the legendary FAME Studios of Muscle Shoals, Alabama to create and record a very special full-length album, continuing their journey of honoring tradition while shaping its future.

Peter Levin — Hammond B3 Organ

Peter Levin is a master organist whose sound is deeply rooted in the spirit of At Fillmore East. A longtime member of the Gregg Allman Band, he brings an authentic, road-earned feel to the music, anchoring it with warmth, restraint, and soulful authority. Beyond that legacy, Levin has toured and recorded across genres with an extraordinary range of artists, including Lucinda Williams, Amanda Shires, Aaron Neville, Ringo Starr, The Highwomen, Marcus King, The Allman Betts Band, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The O’Jays, Dolly Parton, Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, and Allen Toussaint—making him one of the most versatile and trusted keyboard voices in American music.

Lamar Williams Jr. — Vocals

Lamar Williams Jr. is a soul-driven vocalist carrying forward one of the deepest legacies in American music as the son of Lamar Williams, bassist for the Allman Brothers Band. Raised in Macon, Georgia, he was shaped by the sound and spirit of the musicians who defined that genre. Today, Lamar performs and records with Oteil Burbridge, Trouble No More, and The Allman Betts Family Revival, and has been tapped to tour with Oteil & Friends and sing on Burbridge’s upcoming album. His career also includes extensive touring and recording with The New Mastersounds and The North Mississippi Allstars, seamlessly bridging The Allman Brothers legacy with a living, breathing continuation on today’s stages.

Vaylor Trucks — Guitar

Vaylor Trucks is a guitarist and songwriter who's playing blends improvisational freedom with melodic innovation and deep feel. As the son of Allman Brothers Band co-founder Butch Trucks, he grew up immersed in the language of jam and ensemble music but has carved out a voice distinctly his own. Vaylor has performed and recorded with The Slightly Famous Somebodies, The Yeti Trio, and The Sweet Lillies, and is a longtime collaborator with his sister, Melody Trucks. Rooted in tradition yet driven by curiosity, his work honors the legacy from which he comes while pushing it forward with intention and originality.

Yattie Westfield — Drums

Yattie Westfield is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist known for his deep feel, spontaneity, and fearless musical exploration. At just 17, he was already jamming with Oteil Burbridge, Col. Bruce Hampton, and Derek Trucks—an early sign of his musical intuition and status within the musical community. Yattie leads his own project, Dos Fuegos, where he simultaneously plays guitar and drums, pushing the boundaries of live performance and rhythm-forward songwriting. Whether anchoring a groove or stepping into uncharted territory, his playing reflects a deep respect for tradition while boldly moving forward.

Will Bart — Guitar

Will Bart is a guitarist who's playing is rooted in feel, tone, and deep respect for American Roots music. A longtime fixture at Roots Rock Revival, he has spent years immersed in its collaborative, mentorship-driven environment, contributing to and carrying forward its musical lineage. Will has performed and recorded with the North Mississippi Allstars, and regularly tours with The Fitzkee Brothers Band, bringing a tasteful and funky, groove-centered approach to stages nationwide. He also leads his own project, Johnny in the Basement, where his songwriting and guitar work further showcase a modern take on classic roots traditions.
