SUMMARY:The History of Lifesaving in Bethany Beach
DESCRIPTION:Tyler Dreiblatt\, Interpretive Programs Manager for Delaware Seashore State Park\, will present a talk based on the history of lifesaving in Bethany Beach.  The evening will feature an overview of the lifesaving service\, the Bethany Beach station\, and its eventual transfer to the Coast Guard.  Dreiblatt will also recount stories of the local surfmen and Coast Guardsmen that worked there. \n\n\n\nTyler holds a degree in History from Allegheny College\, and a certificate of study in Environmental Education and Interpretation from Humboldt State University. He is a National Association for Interpretation Certified Interpretive Guide\, as well as the 2018 winner of the Delaware State Parks Mohr-Jennings Award for excellence in interpretation.\n\n\n\nSince 2005 the Bethany Beach Cultural and Historical Affairs Committee has been sponsoring cultural events during the off season.  Topics of interest run the gamut from shipwrecks and treasures to music and historic tales. All programs are free and open to the public.
